Posted in School Stories Thousands of Roses Delivered to Herriman and Riverton High Schools on Valentine’s Day Morning Thanks to Students with Big Hearts Posted on February 14, 2020 This Valentine’s Day will be one to remember for students at Herriman High School thanks to some members of the school’s cross-country team with very big hearts. The team decided they didn’t want anyone feeling left out on Valentine’s Day, so they went to work raising money to buy roses – enough for every girl at Herriman High. In fact, they had enough roses that the team decided to share them, surprising students at Riverton High School as well. The cross country team hopes it will instill in everyone the idea that caring about others is important every single day. Posted in School Stories Copper Canyon Elementary School “Hope Week” Inspires Kindness Posted on February 14, 2020 It was a week filled with acts of kindness and fun, inspiring activities. The Jr. Hope Squad at Copper Canyon Elementary School sponsored “Hope Week,” and encouraged everyone to participate. Some of the “Hope Week” activities included putting notes of kindness on every student’s desk and in the hallways, making a Kindness Tree with paper leaves and hearts that had special messages on them and decorating classroom doors. Congratulations to students and staff at Copper Canyon Elementary for being great role-models and inspiring everyone to be kind. Posted in Parent University , School Stories Blackridge Elementary Students Take Field Trip for Fun and Engaging History Lesson Posted on February 14, 2020 It is a history lesson that some 5 th grade students at Blackridge Elementary School won’t soon forget. They boarded a school bus and took a field trip to the Utah State Capitol to participate in a state-wide celebration of Better Days 2020. It was a celebration marking the sesquicentennial of women’s suffrage 150 years ago when Utah extended voting rights to women. Territorial lawmakers voted unanimously in 1870 – making the beehive state only the second place in the country to allow women to vote after Wyoming. The Blackridge students participated in a number of activities while at the State Capitol. Better Days 2020 was designed to promote, inspire and help teach young people about Utah’s incredible, trailblazing and pioneering history in the women’s suffrage movement.
